Upon writing this post I have been reflecting on how black women need open spaces where they can share and discuss issues that are often important in their lives and families. It almost seems at times that those places are non-existent, but they do exist. Often, with those who we are the closest to in our lives.
Another thought that comes to mind is having ways to de-stress or having activities available that allow us to focus on our self being. I find many ways to cope with the stressors of life in various ways. Through reading, driving, listening to music that motivates me, talking to family members or even sliding into a hot bath for a moment to think.
This is one of my favorite ways of taking a moment to relax and think. To me there is nothing more exhilarating then soaking in a hot bath and allowing myself to think on various situations. I do this quite often.

I have found adding homemade bath salts with various lavender, roses and other flowers has improved my overall bath experience. Its provided a haven during the times I truly want to relax and chill. So far experimenting with different flowers, salts and oils has provided me an avenue towards exploring aromatherapy of which I am learning more of daily. Anyways, I will be adding the various bath salts that I found the most inspiring to Plush Figure. These are my personal favorites and I hope they will provide the same soothing experience to you as it has for me.

Since beginning this journey into creating skincare products I have been reading a vast amount of books on everything from herbs, health, social activism (Yes) and even religious material. The reasoning behind all this is because I began to realize that in order to make any improvements in life whether physical or emotional there is a level of knowledge that is needed of every “realm”. A knowledge of self. A knowledge of how nature responds to different stimuli, because in learning this I felt I could learn more about self.
This has proven true in that I have a very different perspective than a year ago in such matters. How does this have anything to do with self-care? It had everything to do with understanding the underlying problems and working each and every day towards changing it- for the better. Change is a constant process. Its a constant renewal of energy, perspective and priorities based on the knowledge that we gain daily.
Reading about different perspectives on health and nature has allowed me to better appreciate the environment. To respect its purpose in our lives. Whatever I can do to make a positive impact for myself and others whether it is in sending a small gift of body lotion that will ease their day or just calling to check up on someone to listen to their life struggles I’m willing to do if it will make a difference.
Sometimes that is just what is needed for a person to make it through the day. Someone to listen.
Listen with curiosity. Speak with honesty. Act with integrity. The greatest problem with communication is we don’t listen to understand. We listen to reply. When we listen with curiosity, we don’t listen with the intent to reply. We listen for what’s behind the words.”
The premiere of Plush Figure brings a new edge to our all natural skincare initiative. There will be new products added weekly to the line up for men and women. Also, there will be some new products in the care of children. In especially, baby skincare and other tidbits for the little ones.
Its been rewarding to make each and every product with providing the best quality in mind. My initiatives have been solely focused upon providing skincare that will add value and be a staple in the daily care of all who use it. The journey is one that has provided the most positive experience that I have ever had as an entrepreneur. Mostly, because in the process of learning I am obtaining invaluable knowledge of nature and self-care. This is so important in the environment in which there are so many demands on the average person in especially entrepreneurs and the need to get it “all” done. However, despite all this I feel rewarded each and every time I develop a new product and service. I have always been a person that wishes to give to others and this is one way in which I can give with a purpose towards promoting positive body care experiences based on natural ingredients.
During the last week of redeveloping this website I was reminded of the “Essence of Life” in that water IS life. This was reflected to me through a quote from Leonard Da Vinci in which he states…

I read this with glee, because the day that I found the quote was on the anniversary of his birthday-yesterday! This entire experience has been a life movement. A blessing. A moment to reflect on the beautiful nature that is all around us and to focus on bringing positive influences to those we come in contact with each and every day.
It all seems possible. Sometimes, it may not- considering the events that are occurring socially on every level in our society, but I was taught to see the good in everything. In every moment. To cherish it no matter what is going on to keep pushing towards the ultimate goal and life destiny towards what I was meant to do on this earth.
If that epiphany comes through a song, a quote or even a movie. Its all purposeful towards achieving my ultimate purpose. Anyways, the quote was timely for this project- creating skincare and others that I am working on. It was timely and needed. Let us always remember our ultimate goals and may we achieve each and every one.
